This is a must-read article. Please pass on to all authors so they are aware that any and all content they post on their FaceBook page belongs to FaceBook in perpetuity (and even grants FB the right to SELL their work!!!)
The Swivet [Colleen Lindsay]: New Facebook Terms of Service grant Facebook the ownership of your content. Forever.
Thanks to agent Colleen Lindsay for bringing this to our attention!
Thank you so much for letting us know about this. I think it's ridiculous! What are your thoughts on it?
Lady Glamis, this makes me very nervous. I checked Blogger's TOS, seem more reasonable, but I want to get my dh to check it out (he's in law so all the whytofores and notwithstandings make more sense to him).
As far as FB goes I'm cutting right down on my activity and will be cautious about what I post here on Blogger as well.
I heard about this on one of my loops. Perhaps I should reconsider linking my Sunday blog to facebook. But I don't publish my stories on my blog like you do. So I can't imagine needing the rights to anything in that blog.
I use facebook to network only- any pics I have go up on my website. You have some great pics- perhaps you should consider moving them as FB will own the rights to them as well...
Wow!!! Thanks for letting us know!
I heard about this. Here is an update I read.
Nancy - I'll not be posting any more stories on blogspot (their ToS are not as draconian as FB, but still restric rights) and I will be keeping my FB activity to a minimum.
I believe that even if we delete our FB accounts they still have our info, texts, images etc stored, so I'm counting that as "skoolgeld" (literally = school fees for lessons learned)
Anita - I'm letting everyone I can know about this because I really freaked out about it.
Justus - am about topost episode 3 on my blog!! :)
