My Three Favourite Romantic Heroes

Who are your favourite romantic heroes?

My image of the Romantic Hero has always been that of a complex character, with secret conflicts hidden beneath a sophisticated and ruthless façade. Their personal code of honour is god to these brooding iconoclasts; loss, suffering and alienation are the price they pay to uphold that honour in true heroic fashion.

The idea of taming of this dominant male thrilled my feminist heart with girlish fantasies. Still does, actually, although I’m no longer a feminist and modern romance heroes are rarely forceful and too often politically correct.

Does Mr. Darcy count?

Doesn't eveyrone love Mr. Darcy? Or maybe we all love Colin Firth...I have a very soft spot for Septimus Harding in the Barchester Chronicles - not exactly roamntic, but just so kind. And Ratty in the Wind in the Willows; not really romantic either. Oh dear.

As a true romantic, I always say love finds a way to overcome the impossible.

SHARYN: Mr Darcy definitely counts! He was one of my top options. If I could have had more than 3 he would have been in the list for sure!

FRANCES: Good point - and one of the reasons I eliminated poor Mr Darcy, because I couldn't decide whether I loved him, or (gasp, swoon) the gorgeous Colin Firth.

MADDY: My sentiments exactly! As corny as it sounds, love is the answer - and that's the whole theme underlying my novel "Dancing in the Shadows of Love".

You have me intrigued. I can't wait to join the conversation. I'm voting for Mr. Darcy too! Colin Firth is one of my favorites I must admit.
